We’ve been blessed with a lot of rain, which is unusual as June and July are historically Malaysia’s driest months. With two weeks of consistent rain-offs, the club took the decision to start club chukkas at 3:00 pm yesterday. It paid off, with 11 1/7th chukkas played before the rain came pouring down at 5:15 pm.
Preparations for the start of the Malaysian legs of the RMPA International League have gone into wet-weather mode, and we play when we can.
I conducted the draw for the RMPA Open after polo. With four teams every team will play each other once in a league which will decide not only the finalists, but also the league points for the tournament.
Here is the draw:
Head Hunters has joined with La Familia and will play the International League as HLF Polo. Dato’ Mohamed Moiz (1) will play with Shaik Reismann (3), Saladin Mazlan (3) and Horacio “Diablo’ Etcheverry (5).
While I am responsible for Head Hunters horses, I shall be standing-by as a substitute for La Sarita, as I did last season. The team is unchanged, with Ameer Jumabhoy (1), Asad Juambhoy (1), Agustin Andrada (4) and Juan Cruz Losada (6).
Caroline and Dato’ Harald Link’s Thai Polo have the deadly partnership of Raul Laplacette and Carlos Pando back again as they did in 2014. They have won the league in the last three season, so they are definitely the team to beat.
HRH Tengku Amir’s (2) Royal Pahang will have Tomas Llorente (6), Tengku Shazril (3) and A.N. Other.
I hope the rain eases and we get some good polo in preparation for what should be a great season.
