TrackWork

I went to the night races in Singapore.  It was my first time ever at the night races, and only the fifth time I have been to the races since I stopped amateur race-riding myself in 1994.  It was a really fun night.

The Kranji racetrack is not a picturesque as the former Bukit Timah course, but it has its charms.  The facilities look excellent, and the racing was very good.  I really enjoyed it.

It was great to run into some old friends like Samad, the former red coat, who I have known from the 70′s when he was on the staff of the Apprentice Jockey Training School.  Samad was in the saddling enclosure.  I found this paddock to be very humid, a few degrees hotter than the rest of the club.  While the punters had large fans to cool them off, there was no cooling for the horses and many were really sweating up!

I also caught up with Saimee Jumaat, a former ace jockey who is now a B trainer with Steve Burridge, who was my host (top pic).  Steve had a good evening, winning two races last night.

For me, it was a bit of work as Zack’s Tack has worked with Equine Nutrition Australasia to develop our Polo Mix using Stabilised Rice Bran.  A natural evolution is a Pro Sport Mix with a muesli mix of grains.    I was with ENA’s Greg McLaren.  Talking to trainers will help us as these mixes continue to be refined.

It was nice to be be back at the Singapore Turf Club and to see many old friends.
